Professional Biography
Robert G. Khachatryan, MD, PhD, is a physician, surgeon, inventor, and medical researcher whose career spans more than four decades of clinical practice, scientific investigation, academic leadership, and technological innovation.
After graduating from Yerevan State Medical Institute in 1980, he continued advanced surgical and scientific training at major medical and research institutions in Novosibirsk and Moscow. His early academic achievements included graduate and doctoral research in cardiovascular and surgical medicine, laying the foundation for a career that would combine clinical excellence with scientific innovation.
Throughout his professional journey, Dr. Khachatryan worked across multiple surgical disciplines, including cardiovascular surgery, liver surgery, and complex abdominal procedures. In parallel with his clinical work, he pursued academic and scientific activities, progressing rapidly through the ranks of medical research and higher education before assuming senior academic and leadership positions.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Khachatryan has performed more than 3,000 complex heart and liver surgeries, authored 278 scientific publications, and developed 260 patents and certificates of authorship. His work has been recognized through academic appointments, scientific awards, international collaborations, and leadership roles in medical, research, and innovation organizations across Armenia, Russia, Europe, and the United States.
His professional interests gradually expanded beyond surgery into oncology research, biotechnology, medical technologies, nutritional sciences, and applied innovation. This multidisciplinary approach has resulted in the development of numerous patented technologies and research programs aimed at translating scientific concepts into practical solutions.
Today, his research activities continue to focus on translational medicine, biotechnology, and the development of innovative immunological approaches for cancer prevention and treatment, including a synthetic oncology immunotherapy platform inspired by earlier investigational cancer vaccine concepts and supported by modern recombinant biotechnology.
